Do you want to photograph one of the most scenic national parks in the United States? If so, join our Bryce Canyon photography tour. Our tour will take you to the heart of Bryce Canyon, where you will have the chance to photograph iconic hoodoos and other unique sandstone formations. Our tour is designed to offer you an unforgettable experience—leaving you with stunning images and memories to last a lifetime.
Our photography tour is led by experienced photographers, Jan Miřacký and A.J. Rich, who are both passionate about landscape photography. They will share their knowledge and expertise, helping you to capture the perfect shot at the right moment in Bryce Canyon.
Plenty of time will be given to exploring the park and capturing the beauty of the hoodoos during the golden hours of sunrise and sunset—when the light is most beautiful. We will use the mid-day to combine hiking and photography in the national park. Our itinerary is carefully crafted to ensure that you get the most out of your photography experience.
Whether you are an amateur or a professional photographer, our tour is designed to cater to all levels of experience. We believe that everyone has the potential to capture beautiful images, and Jan and A.J. will be on hand to help you unleash your creativity and take your photography skills to the next level. If cancellation notice is received at least 60 days prior to the start of the workshop, the deposit transfer can be applied one time to a workshop of your choice with available space. You will need to sign-up for the new workshop as normal by paying the deposit, and your transfer amount will be applied to the remaining balance. If you need to cancel a second time prior to the 60-day period, the first deposit will be forfeited, and the new deposit will be transferable. For cancellations received 0-59 days prior to the start of the workshop, all deposits and workshop fees will be forfeited.
No refunds will be given for delays or cancellations due to inclement weather, flights, health pandemics, natural disasters, civil unrest, or other events beyond our control, either before, during, or after your workshop. We are not responsible for any additional costs you may incur due to delays or cancellations. Any reservation cancellations/changes outside the 60-day refund window will incur a $100 cancellation/change fee.
During the photo tour, we will take advantage of the best light during daylight hours to take advantage of our time in the park. We will be shooting sunrises and sunsets as well as scenes during the day.
On day 1, the group will meet in Bryce Canyon village for a welcome briefing at 7:00 p.m.
Our first photo excursion will be the sunrise shoot on day 2. After that, we’ll head back to the hotel for breakfast, and after that, we’ll head back to the park for some moderate hiking mixed with photography. We’ll call it a day with a sunset shoot in the park.
Day 3 will have the same structure as day 2.
On Day 4, we’ll wrap up the photo tour after the sunrise shoot.
All scheduled photoshoots are subject to change. We will do our best to utilize given weather conditions to maximize shooting opportunities for each day. We will provide a tentative itinerary and meeting times at our initial meeting. The itinerary will remain flexible according to conditions on any given day.
The closest airports to Bryce Canyon National Park are the Bryce Canyon Airport (BCE), located just outside the park’s boundaries, and the St. George Regional Airport (SGU), located approximately 130 miles south of the park.
However, both of these airports offer limited flight options and may not be the most convenient or cost-effective choices for travelers. The nearest major airports with more flight options are the Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS) and Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), both of which are approximately 270 miles from Bryce Canyon National Park.
We recommend renting a vehicle at the airport. It will also give you the ability to explore other unique locations around Utah before and/or after the photo tour. We will be carpooling during the photo tour. However, you are welcome to use your own vehicle if conditions permit.
Everybody is responsible for their lodging arrangement. Jan and A.J. are staying at Ruby’s Inn in Bryce Canyon—you are welcome to book your accommodation here or find accommodation in Bryce Canyon that suits your needs better.
Since we will be shooting sunrises, sunsets and throughout the day, normal eating schedules may be compromised during this photo tour.
We may go as a group for a dinner here and a breakfast there (after photographing), but for the most part each participant will be on their own food-wise. We will provide complimentary water and snacks at each shoot location.
Participants of the Bryce Canyon Photography Tour should be prepared for a moderate level of hiking difficulty. The itinerary includes treks along several trails, including the Navajo Loop Trail and Queen’s Garden Trail, which are both rated as moderate hikes. These hikes include sections with steep inclines, uneven terrain, and narrow paths, so participants should have a reasonable level of fitness and be comfortable with hiking in these conditions. Come prepared to hike between 4 and 6 miles per day.
The Mossy Cave Trail, which is included in the itinerary on the second day, is an easier hike, rated as easy. However, participants should still be prepared for some uneven terrain and rocky sections, as well as some steep inclines in places. It’s essential to wear appropriate footwear, such as hiking boots or sturdy sneakers with good traction, to ensure stability and prevent slips or falls.
Participants should also be aware that the hikes take place at high elevation, ranging from approximately 7,000 to 8,000 feet above sea level. This altitude can make the hikes feel more strenuous, especially for those who are not acclimated to the elevation. It’s essential to take breaks as needed, stay hydrated, and listen to your body to avoid altitude sickness.

Jan is an award-winning landscape and travel photographer based in the Czech Republic. Jan regularly runs photography tours in Prague and the United States and more adventurous photo expeditions in places like Peru. Jan’s instruction on multi-day tours focuses on training each participant to see hidden compositions. Jan’s goal is to ensure each participant comes to understand composition and exposure, yielding more desirable results.
Growing up on the edge of St. George, Utah, A.J. spent countless hours around his childhood home climbing rock mesas and exploring the unknown, including at nearby Zion National Park. After graduating with a degree in graphic design from Brigham Young University in 2001, A.J. is currently working in the graphic design field with over 20 years of award-winning experience. In 2006 A.J. picked up a camera and, drawing on his art background, has been a successful Getty Images contributor. In recent years, he has focused on landscape photography—where his true passion lies. A.J. is excited to share his knowledge of Utah and the surrounding area with others.
Participants in the Bryce Canyon National Park photography tour should be prepared for a variety of weather conditions in November. While the days can be sunny and mild, temperatures can drop rapidly at night, and snow or other wintry precipitation is possible. It’s essential to check the weather forecast before your trip and pack accordingly to ensure you have the appropriate clothing for any conditions you may encounter.
During the daytime hikes, participants should dress in layers to allow for easy adjustments as the temperature changes throughout the day. A base layer of moisture-wicking fabric is ideal to keep you dry and comfortable, followed by a warm mid-layer such as a fleece or down jacket. A waterproof and wind-resistant outer layer is also essential to protect against rain, snow, or wind.
For the sunrise shoot at Agua Canyon Overlook, temperatures can be particularly chilly, especially in the early morning hours. It’s essential to bring warm layers such as a hat, gloves, and a warm down jacket to keep you comfortable during the shoot. A sturdy pair of boots with good traction is also recommended, as the ground may be slick or icy in places.
In the evenings, temperatures can drop rapidly, so it’s essential to have warm clothing such as a down jacket, hat, and gloves to stay comfortable during the sunset shoot. It’s also a good idea to bring hand warmers or other accessories to keep your fingers and toes warm during the colder parts of the day.

Sunrise is approximately at 7:57 a.m and sunset is approximately at 6:27 p.m. The seasonal timing of this photo tour will allow for normal dinner times and more rest— as the days are much shorter in early November.
